Yoga nidra is a deeply relaxing guided meditation. It evokes a profound state of deep relaxation and a release of physical and mental tension. We will explore some of science of yoga nidra and how it relates to sleep, experience a few yoga nidra sessions and do some gentle movement. Recordings of the yoga nidra sessions will be available after the class.

Join Yoga Outreach for an incredible 3-day Trauma-Informed Yoga Training!

This training is suitable for movement instructors and/or yoga teachers serving students who face multiple barriers, including mental health challenges, violence, incarceration, or addiction. It's also suitable for people planning to work or volunteer in social service settings with marginalized populations.

Develop an understanding of:
• The effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress
• Creating safe spaces
• The power of “invitational language” and "language of inquiry”
• Understanding and managing potential triggers
• Tools for self-regulation

Learn to create a strengths-based class, with a focus on:
• Boundaries and self-care
• Equality, marginalization, and privilege

Familiarize yourself with social service yoga settings such as prisons, addiction recovery centres, domestic violence transition homes, or mental health facilities.
• What to expect: building rapport, mandates, and responsibilities.
• Opportunities for practicum, volunteer placement, and on-going mentorship.

All proceeds go directly towards providing weekly trauma-informed yoga within mental health programs, addictions recovery centres, prisons, transition houses, youth centres, and other social service centres across British Columbia.

Enjoy an exploration of the Chakras through asana (physical practice). We will begin at the Muladhara (Root) Chakra and work our way to the very top, the Sahasrara (Crown) Chakra. Along the way, you will learn a brief history of the Chakra energy system, their meaning and which poses benefit each chakra, allowing our energies to flow cohesively. The class will end with a guided mediation bringing you on a walk through the rainbow. We will colour, discuss, move and be still.
